LLC + EIN
LLC with an EIN, the same day
You can have an approved LLC and its EIN on the same business day, but only in states that approve online filings quickly. Here is how the two steps fit together, which states make it realistic, and what we do for you.
How it works
Two steps, two offices
The LLC comes from your state. We usually file your Articles within 1 business hour of a complete order (Monday to Thursday 9 AM to 5 PM and Friday 9 AM to 12 PM Eastern). Then the state approves on its own schedule.
The EIN comes from the IRS. The IRS online application is free and gives the number immediately when it goes through. It is open on weekdays during IRS hours, and it needs the LLC's exact legal name and the SSN or ITIN of the responsible owner.
So the question is really: how fast does your state approve?
States where same day is realistic
These states approve standard online LLC filings within minutes to a day, so a morning order can have both the LLC and the EIN before the day ends:
Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Wisconsin, Wyoming.
In slower states (Florida, Delaware, California and others), the LLC itself takes days or weeks, and some states sell a paid rush. Each state page shows the real approval time and any rush fee.

Yes. The IRS charges nothing for an EIN. HourLLC includes the application in its $99 fee.
What do I need for the EIN?
The LLC's exact name and address, its members, and the SSN or ITIN of the responsible owner. We collect it encrypted, never by email or text.
Which state is fastest?
Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, South Dakota and Wyoming approve online filings instantly. New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Tennessee are usually within a day.
