LLC publication in New York County (Manhattan)

Every new New York LLC must publish a notice for six weeks. Manhattan is New York County. It is often the most expensive county in the state for LLC publication, because the designated papers charge some of the highest rates.

Who picks the newspapers

The New York County (Manhattan) Clerk designates them

Under section 206 of the New York LLC Law, the county clerk of the county where your LLC's office is located designates one daily and one weekly newspaper. You publish in those two, once a week for six consecutive weeks, within 120 days after your Articles of Organization take effect.

New York County Clerk, 60 Centre Street, New York, NY 10007. Clerk's office page.

Because HourLLC charges the same $649 in every county, a Manhattan LLC saves the most compared with paying the newspapers directly.

The steps for a Manhattan LLC

  1. Get the two designated newspapers from the New York County (Manhattan) Clerk.
  2. Place the notice (or a copy of the Articles) with both papers.
  3. Let it run once a week for six weeks in each.
  4. Collect an affidavit of publication from each paper.
  5. File the Certificate of Publication with the Department of State with both affidavits, and pay the $50 state fee.
