LLC publication in Queens County
Every new New York LLC must publish a notice for six weeks. Every Queens neighborhood, from Astoria to Far Rockaway, is in Queens County, so the Queens County Clerk designates the newspapers for an LLC with an office address in Queens.
Who picks the newspapers
The Queens County Clerk designates them
Under section 206 of the New York LLC Law, the county clerk of the county where your LLC's office is located designates one daily and one weekly newspaper. You publish in those two, once a week for six consecutive weeks, within 120 days after your Articles of Organization take effect.
Queens County Clerk, 88-11 Sutphin Boulevard, Room 106, Jamaica, NY 11435. Clerk's office page.
The clerk only names the papers. Each paper sets its own rate, so ask both for a quote before you place the notice, or let us handle it at one price.
The steps for a Queens LLC
- Get the two designated newspapers from the Queens County Clerk.
- Place the notice (or a copy of the Articles) with both papers.
- Let it run once a week for six weeks in each.
- Collect an affidavit of publication from each paper.
- File the Certificate of Publication with the Department of State with both affidavits, and pay the $50 state fee.
What it costs
| Option | Cost |
|---|---|
| Do it yourself: the two newspapers' rates + $50 state fee | Varies by paper |
| HourLLC: notice drafted and placed, affidavits collected, certificate filed, $50 state fee included | $649 |
HourLLC's price is the same in every New York county. LLCs formed in another state and registered in New York add $150. It takes about 7 to 8 weeks, because the law requires six weeks of printing.
